Drug Testing Equipment for Professionals
As a lab assistant you may be tasked with testing for drugs on students, players or employees. Or are you a law enforcement officer working in the drug enforcement department? The testing kits to use for such cases is a decision that these officials have to make. Any product used to test for drugs must be the one giving the best and unadulterated results from any test done. It would be an embarrassment to pass a person in a test only for them to be proven otherwise later.
Components of a drug testing kit vary from drug to drug. There is an exception for certain components that should be present in almost all kits. Breathalyzer equipment may be used when testing for alcohol. Collection cups to collect samples are some of the components of a complete drug testing kit. The actual testing is then done on test cups and cards. Finally, adulteration strips and bluing tablets provide the definition of the test results. The use of these two is crucial since it gives the chemical constituents in a sample.
There are must-have requirements for the best drug testing kit. How easy it is to use a testing kit is the first thing to look into. It is very unrealistic for the test kit to be too bulky such that its mobility is hard. The portability of the kit should be something that should never be ignored. In this way, doubt on the applied testing methods are eliminated.
After the first consideration, a drug testing kit should also be fast. Kits that give results within a short duration is one thing every drug testing official wants to have. It becomes very hard to rely on test equipment that takes too long to generate results. Products used should, therefore, give results within a few minutes or if possible, instantly.
It has been reported in some cases that drug test results were adulterated. Adulteration should be prevented as much as possible in any good drug testing kit. This is because the accuracy of the test is the most important aspect being sought when any test is ordered.
A variety of samples should be able to be tested using a single test tooling. Different samples may be collected depending on the case in question. Body fluids are the most commonly used samples for drug testing. Body fluid testing will however not be ideal to test for drugs in a place like a busy airport where officials will be required to test for the passengers luggage too. The versatility of a kit will in such a place should dictate whether it has the ability to test for various samples such as residues on surfaces, tablets, liquids and even powders.
